Pontus Engstrom

The lecture by lecturer Pontus Engstrom will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Management of University of Latvia, Aspazijas boulevard 5, room 416, on May 18, 2016, 14.30-16.00.

Pontus Engstrom, a PhD Research Fellow and lecturer from the University of Agder in Norway has done his thesis on how microfinance and financial literacy affects micro-enterprise performance in the informal economy. He has gathered data from the poor coastal regions of Ecuador and has recently submitted his thesis. In this lecture, he will share the results of his research and will also talk about alternatives to microfinance — financing of small and medium sized companies in Tanzania through an academic spinn-off known as MTI Investments. Prior to his studies at the University of Agder, he has worked at firms like the Boston Consulting Group, Credit Suisse and DnB Asset Management. The lecture will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Management of University of Latvia, Aspazijas boulevard 5, room 416, on May 18, 2016, 14:30-16:00.
