H.E. Mr. Alain Hausser, Ambassador of Canada to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania

Doctoral School “European Integration and Baltic Sea Region Studies (EIBSRS)” in cooperation with European Studies Master Program, Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, University of Latvia kindly invites you to a guest-lecture "Recent developments in bilateral relations between Latvia and Canada" by H.E. Mr. Alain Hausser, Ambassador of Canada to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The guest-lecture will take place on May 12, 2017, Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, University of Latvia (Aspazijas boulevard 5), room 322 at 18:00. The guest-lectures will be held in English followed by Q&A session and discussion. During the guest-lecture H.E. Mr. Alain Hausser will give and overview of the bilateral relations between Canada and Latvia and cover most recent aspects of economic and security cooperation between Canada, Latvia and the EU (CETA, enhanced Forward Presence). H.E. Mr. Alain Hausser joined the Department of External Affairs in 1988 after a few years as a teaching assistant in international law at the University of Regensburg (Germany). He has served abroad as third and later second secretary at Canada’s embassy in Tel Aviv; first secretary at the embassy in Bonn; counsellor (political) at the embassy in Berlin; counsellor (political) at the embassy in Brussels; deputy permanent observer at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg; and, from 2010 to 2014, deputy head of the Mission of Canada to the European Union in Brussels and permanent observer at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. In Ottawa, he has held a number of positions, including counsellor at the Privy Council Office, director of the Western Europe Division and director of the European Union Division (2007 to 2010) at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada headquarters. The guest-lecture is organized by the European Studies Master Program of the University of Latvia and doctoral school "European Integration and Baltic Sea Region Studies (EIBSRS)" in cooperation with within a cycle of guest-lectures on the topics of European Integration and Baltic Sea Region legal, social, economic and geo-political development trends.   Information prepared by: Romans Putans, Dr.sc.admin.
