Doctoral School “European Integration and Baltic Sea Region Studies (EIBSRS)” in cooperation with European Studies Master Program, Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, University of Latvia kindly invites you to a guest-lecture "The Building of Europe: History and Current Challenges" by Mr. Gilles Grin, PhD in International Relations. Director of the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe, Lausanne, Switzerland.

The guest-lecture will take place on May 10, 2017, Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, University of Latvia (Aspazijas boulevard 5), room 322 at 18:00. The guest-lectures will be held in English followed by Q&A session and discussion. The guest-lecture will consider the motivations of the European integration process from a historical and current perspective. It will also deal with questions such as sovereignty, the EU decision-making process, democracy, crises and revivals, the connexion between globalisation and Europeanisation, Brexit, and some future prospects. Dr. Gilles Grin has been the Director of the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe in Lausanne (Switzerland) since 2012. Furthermore, he is a lecturer at the University of Lausanne. With degrees from the Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC) at the University of Lausanne, Yale University and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), he holds a doctorate in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, and is the author of a book on the internal market of the European Union as well as of several other publications.
